Membership is open to Deaf, Hard of Hearing, CODA, and partner individuals, 18 years and older, living in the Bay Area.

How to Join*

Before you join, please confirm you meet SFDC’s membership eligibility (Bylaws Article II & III):

Are you Deaf, Hard of Hearing (HoH), a CODA (Child of Deaf Adult), or the partner of a Deaf individual? (Bylaws Section 2.1)

Do you live in the Bay Area? (Bylaws Section 2.2)

Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, or Sonoma County

Are you 18 years of age or older? (Bylaws Section 3.1)

What’s the Difference Between Membership Standing and Membership Status?

Membership Status reflects whether your membership is Active, Expired, or Pending.
Membership Standing determines your eligibility for event participation and exclusive perks:
- Good Standing: Members active for at least one year OR those who chose the $25 five-year membership. You can participate in meetings, have voting rights, and submit event requests and proposals.
- Not in a Good Standing: First-year members or those with unpaid dues. You can attend events but cannot participate in meetings, vote, or submit event requests or proposals.
